In the neighborhoods Madison serves, resources are often sparse and many of our families are left without the proper tools to help their children grow, learn, and thrive. Often this can be as fundamental as a healthy snack or meal. While our programs help to address the potential of the whole child, for many of our members, you help to ensure their survival. Can we count you to make sure our kids get the chance they deserve? Click the link in our bio to learn more.

At #MadisonBGClub, our members always come first. #TuesdayThoughts
This summer, and every day after school, kids from New York City’s most under-resourced neighborhoods flood our Clubhouses filled with hope; hope for a hot meal, hope for a quiet place to study, hope for positive, caring mentors, and hope for a brighter future. However, I have learned a harsh reality: Talent and ability are always equally distributed, but opportunity is not.
When you walk into our Clubhouses, you'll see a lot of different things. The art rooms are bursting with creativity and ideas. The gyms and swimming pools are home to energy and determination. The learning centers and technology labs foster our thinkers, dreamers, and hard workers. Minds are hard at work. I see staff helping with homework, lending an ear, and building trust with our members.
Amongst all of this positivity, one thing remains: need.
By supporting Madison and making a gift online, you're helping us level the playing field for 5,000 New York City kids who call our Clubhouses home.
Can we count you to make sure our kids get the chance they deserve?
Are you passionate about youth development and thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment? Madison Square Boys & Girls Club is the right place for you! We have a diverse range of positions available all across New York City. Visit www.madisonsquare.org/careers to apply!

The opening of the space was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that included appearances by New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia and his wife & philanthropist Amber Sabathia. Joining them were teen members and staff from both Madison Square Boys & Girls Club and Good Tidings Foundation. The renovated teen center will provide the teens at the Club with a dedicated, safe, and comfortable place, where they can work on homework, connect with mentors and friends, and participate in various activities and volunteerism. The lounge includes all new furniture, including study tables, billiard tables, and large flat-screen TVs. Additionally, a completely new kitchen was added to the room, as well as state of the art lighting and a wireless Sonos music system. Talk about a #TransformationTuesday!

In the early 1900's, thanks to the efforts of former U.S. Senator William Calder, the Navy Yard Boys Club was a thriving spot for young boys in Brooklyn's historic Navy Yard neighborhood. After 4 moves throughout the area, the current Navy Yard Clubhouse was first erected in 1977. However, in 1983, the Boys Club merged with Madison Square Boys & Girls Club and has since been the second home to youth in the Fort Greene/Farragut section of Brooklyn. #TBT #MadisonJourney
Members from our Explorer's Academy used photography and digital artistry to commemorate historic figures who have helped paved the way for minorities, including African-Americans & women. Although Madison started as a Boys Club, it wasn’t long before the girls in the neighborhood made themselves known. While girls participated in Club programs from the very beginning, their involvement was limited to dramatics, swimming and socials. After a #pressforprogress, the trustees recognized the need for girls’ programs and were instrumental in founding the Girls Club of New York. However, in 1984 the Clubs joined forces and the organization was renamed Madison Square Boys & Girls Club. #TBT #MadisonJourney
On this #InternationalWomensDay, we recognize how essential girls and women are and have always been in #MadisonBGClub’s mission to save and enhance the lives of all NYC youth. #IWD2018

In NYC’s #MetropolitanMuseumofArt hangs the famous 1851 painting, Washington Crossing the Delaware. In 1951, 100 years after the painting’s creation and 50 blocks south, a group of boys from #MadisonBGClub’s 29th Street Clubhouse celebrated our founding fathers by re-enacting this historic piece of art. How’d they do it? By filling the rooftop of the Clubhouse with water and rowing across. This is definitely a #PresidentsDaycelebration for the history books!

Albert Hines, an advocate for change, helped lead the boys' work program at Madison Square Church House in the early 1900s. Madison Square Boys & Girls Club’s journey began in 1884. The Club’s purpose was to provide recreational and vocational programs to keep young people away from gang activity on the east side of Manhattan. Founded in a vacant store on First Avenue and 37th Street and operating as a mission of the Madison Square Church, the Club relocated within the community several times before becoming an organization independent of the church in 1902. An early summary of the #MadisonJourney can be seen in the below “Historiana,” originally published as a promotional piece celebrating the organizations rapid growth and success. #TBT
Keeping our #AcademicSuccess initiatives creative & innovative helps our members learn different skills & promotes a well-rounded curriculum. At #MadisonBGClub, our members learn that the body isn’t the only thing that needs to stay healthy, but it’s equally important to keep our minds healthy too! #MadisonDreams star Ashley S. helped co-found “Confident Caps” with fellow Clubhouse member Imani. The small business was inspired by the need to combat the rise of superficial beauty and materialism that is often flaunted in social media. The girls have created a website and made over 100 caps and continue to spread the message of maintaining a positive state of mind.
#HappyThanksgiving from our #MadisonBGClub family!
“My name is Nicolette, I’m 14 years old, and Madison Square Boys & Girls Club is making sure I stay on the right path. This wasn’t always the case. Last year, I was discouraged when my math scores were really low and I was struggling. The Club was there for me. The staff focused my attention and helped me see each problem in a new way. Thanks to them, I graduated 8th grade with a 93 in math! Because of my mentors, my future has never been brighter. When I grow up, I want to put my math and science skills to work and become a zoologist, marine biologist, or even a doctor!” #MadisonBGClub
There’s no family like our Clubhouse family. #NationalFamilyWeek

"When I grow up, I want to finish college and create video games," #MadisonDreams star Dashawn says. "That's only if I don't make it as a professional baseball player." With high goals, Dashawn is guided through his days at the Club by staff and mentors like Smilow Clubhouse's Technology Director Ray. He says "Dashawn has expressed his interest in computers and has been a part of numerous computer programs we offer such as NetSmartz and My.Future.net. The reason he loves computers is because he likes to play different types of games and learn new things." We can't wait to see Dashawn shine in whichever field he chooses to pursue!

We are excited to share our next #MadisonDreams member profile! Vrinda is 12 years old and has loved growing up at our Thomas S. Murphy Clubhouse. She enjoys all of the fun things she gets to do at the Club but some of her favorites are being a part of SMART Girls and playing games with her friends. Vrinda’s school also gives her the chance to learn different instruments and she thinks it’s awesome that the Club and #NotesforNotes gives her a place to practice what she’s learned. She truly appreciates how the Club feels like a family. “I like talking to the staff about things I may be going through and know they’re always there for me when I just need someone to listen.”
The diversity of our members is celebrated every day at our Clubs. With lessons and activities in Good Character & Citizenship, our members learn to respect other cultures, empower each other to work toward social justice, and recognize that what makes us different and unique is what unites us as one nation and community. Happy #FlagDay!
Last night, the DiverCity Dancers from our Columbus Clubhouse brought our Bronx Board Grand Gala to life. Their moves and enthusiasm have us inspired to let loose this weekend! Happy #Friday! #dance #dancers #happy#madisonbgclub

Raising nearly $100K for #MadisonBGClub, the event was attended by over 220 guests who enjoyed a silent auction cocktail hour, as well as a lunch program led by #WWD’s Alex Badia. The program featured speeches from this year’s honorees as well as our alumna speaker Chassidy David. Our four honorees, Vanessa Noel, Peter Thomas Roth, Michelle Leary of Vhernier Milano, & Alexandra Wilkis Wilson of Gilt, GLAMSQUAD, & Fitz, shared their involvement with Madison, as well as the importance of keeping arts & culture programs alive for our members. Thank you to all who supported this beloved Madison event. Your continued dedication to #MadisonBGClub truly made the afternoon special!
We're throwing it back to when our members made some serious #music! The #NotesforNotes studio at our Thomas S. Murphy Clubhouse hosted its first ever talent showcase back in April. A total of 24 acts performed throughout the night, including a full house band, singers, musicians, rappers, DJs, and even a mini choir! In addition to the performers, the members of our Art program made banners and assisted with the stage design and management, while the teens in our Photography program documented the event. #TBT 🎼🎤🎸
Did you know May is National Physical Fitness & Sports Month? We’re celebrating by showing everyone how are members #MoveinMay! With a dedication to healthy lifestyles, #MadisonBGClub strives to help our members make a lifelong commitment to fitness. One way is through Club-organized intramural sports activities. This #FitnessFriday we salute our Murphy Clubhouse, whose members dominate on the basketball court every day.
Happy College #DecisionDay! At #MadisonBGClub, the Project Graduate program offers comprehensive, college-bound educational enrichment curriculum, events, and outings for teens ages 13-18. Hello August ☀️ Summer is flying by, but we’re having too much fun to notice! #ClubFun
Club Fun is definitely living up to its name! Our Clubhouses have been up to tons of exciting adventures. Between things like field trips, learning new ways to be creative through photography, sharpening our STEM skills, and staying active, we can feel this summer flying by.
Get involved! #MadisonBGClub’s young professional group, Madison Council, is diverse group of individuals in their twenties and thirties committed to advancing the mission of Madison Square Boys & Girls Club. Your membership will give you the chance to serve as a Madison ambassador, organize and attend fundraisers, and engage in volunteer activities at Clubhouses. Click the image above to learn more.
Summer is for making a splash! 💦Unfortunately, many of the neighborhoods and communities our Clubhouse members live in wouldn’t typically have proper facilities and training to keep kids safe in the pool. This limited exposure puts our members at risk of adding to the already startling statistics surrounding urban drownings among kids ages 5-19. At two of our Clubhouses, we’re proud to have swimming pools and programs that help to educate our members on water safety and get them excited about learning to swim. #MadisonDreams star Vrinda says, “One of my favorite things to do at the Club is swim! I’m so glad I have a safe place to practice and play in the pool with my friends.”
Our newest #MadisonDreams member is dancing her way through our Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse. At 13 years old, Laila aspires to be a professional dancer and perform in front of large crowds. Her favorite things to do at the Club are any activities where she can be around her friends. Whether she’s performing for them, practicing her routines, or just hanging out during SMART Girls, she feels most comfortable surrounded by the people who know her best. When it comes to making abilities as a dancer into her career, she says, “The Club has taught me how to be professional, which I know will be important for making it big as a dancer.”
We are excited to share that Madison Square Boys & Girls Club was featured in CNN’s current week-long special “Champions for Change.”
At #MadisonBGClub, our staff help our Clubhouse members focus on being inclusive, celebrating diversity, and promoting a safe atmosphere of acceptance and understanding.

One of the best parts of having the #NotesforNotes studio at our Thomas S. Murphy Clubhouse is that it provides our members with an opportunity to express themselves in a constructive and safe place. Marquise S. channels his creative energy through songwriting and composition. Marquise’s first song, “Moon & Sun,” is a reflection and interpretation of his personal experiences, family life, and neighborhood. To listen to the full song, click here.
We love our #volunteers! Last week employees from #Deloitte celebrated what it means to make an #impactthatmatters. Thanks for helping beautify the playground at our Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse in the Bronx. We are definitely ready for summer! #impactday #volunteerism #givingback#nonprofit

We are so proud of Kevon & know he will continue to spread the mission of Madison no matter where he goes.

We are pleased to share that today we are breaking ground on our 5th Clubhouse! Located at the intersection of West 155th Street and Bradhurst Avenue in Harlem, #MadisonBGClub will continue to spread its mission of saving and enhancing the lives of New York City's youth. #BuildingHope #MSBGCGroundbreaking
In celebration of #InternationalMuseumDay & #ArtMuseumDay, this week’s #TBT throws it back to last Friday, when some of our members participated in “Teens Take the Met,” a twice-yearly program hosted by #TheMet. The event introduces teens across the city to a wide range of cultural activations and art-focused activities including demonstrations, films, workshops, performances, and more. #MadisonBGClub’s involvement in enriching arts initiatives helps to spark creativity and learning in all of our members.
#Volunteers are essential to what we do at #MadisonBGClub. This week we welcomed employees from Charles Schwab who spent some of their 14th Annual Volunteer Week at our Clubhouses and celebrated the #Schwab4Good initiative. Thanks to all of our amazing volunteers!
This #FitnessFriday is making a splash 💦 National Physical Fitness and Sports Month celebrates all different ways to get active & so do we! Some of our Clubhouses, like our Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse in the Bronx, offer aquatic programs that feature water safety instruction, lifeguard training, and recreational aquatic activities for all levels of swimmers. #MoveinMay
"Nobody ever amounts to much without a hand-up now and then, without a pat on the back, without someone looking after them telling them it’s going to be alright. That’s why I love the Boys and Girls Club, why I love this project, and why I’ll always be grateful to the people who stood up for me and stood up to me when I was an unruly young boy. I am grateful to the people who do the same thing here today." -- President #BillClinton offering an inspiring message at today's groundbreaking ceremony for The Pinkerton Clubhouse in #Harlem 🚧 #BuildingHope #MSBGCGroundbreaking
Sometimes all you need is your best pal & some awesome dance moves to find your #MondayMotivation 🎶 #MadisonBGClub
Heads up! Gym time is one of the easiest ways to celebrate National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. Our Clubhouses participate in a ton of fitness challenges. Additionally, our members enjoy a wide range of intramural sports, especially in the gym. This #FitnessFriday, we look to our Columbus Clubhouse, where kicking around the soccer ball is one of the members' favorite recreational activities. #MoveinMay
Yesterday evening, Madison Square Boys & Girls Club hosted its Fifth Annual Youth of the Year Dinner at Pier 60, Chelsea Piers. 600 guests celebrated the success of our four Madison Clubhouse youth who have demonstrated a consistent dedication to their education and community. The event raised nearly $900,000 & was supported by some amazing individuals and organizations. Thank you to all who supported this integral Madison event. Your continued dedication to #MadisonBGClub truly made the night magical! #MadisonYOY #YOY
#MadisonBGClub alum & #Bronx Borough President Rubén Díaz Jr. is inspiring the room with stories of Madison's impact on his life & his community. #MadisonYOY #YOY
Our fourth 2017 #MadisonYOY, distinguished by his charisma and perseverance, is 17-year-old Kevon Jerome Leary. A hero at the Navy Yard Clubhouse & this year's selection to represent the #MadisonBGClub community as the MSBGC Youth of the Year. Kevon believes, “To fail at something does not make you a failure but rather prepares you for your success.” With that mentality, he hopes to continue to grow his passion for sports and secure his future as a professional athlete. #YOY
"There are lots of things I love about going to the Club every day. I get to hang out with my friends, take photography classes, and eat healthy snacks and yummy hot dinners. I also get to play lots of games and help the younger kids. I’m thinking about being a dancer when I grow-up so, my favorite time at the Club, is when I get to dance! I love to learn new dances and practice with the dance team.
The Columbus Clubhouse is my Club and I love it there!” –Ciara, Age 8

“Hi! My name is Ciara, and I am 8 years old. When I grow up, I want to be a dancer or a teacher. My favorite subject in school is math. Now that I am in 2nd grade, I am allowed to help the kindergarteners with their homework. This is because I have very good grades at school. The Club teaches us about being nice to others and teaching the things we have learned to other people. My older brother Randy is in college now, and he says that the Clubhouse made that possible. It makes me feel good to help other kids. The support of people like you can help thousands of families like mine that count on Madison for a safe and healthy place to go after school.” #MadisonBGClub
Over 20 years ago, the members of our original #MadisonBGClub, located on 29th Street in Manhattan, got a visit from the ‘94-‘95 New York #Knicks. Talk about a slam dunk! 🏀 #TBT
We've got a packed house to celebrate our #MadisonYOY!
