October Madison Matters

Pasta Wednesdays mean fun for all!

Thanks to our friends at Barilla Restaurants, our Wednesdays no longer mean middle of the week blues! Thanks to their “Share the Table” program, the members of our Navy Yard Clubhouse are treated to a delicious and nutritious pasta meal, complete with meatballs and vegetable-infused sauce, every Wednesday!

In an effort to combat the ever-growing childhood obesity rates, Madison works diligently to empower our youth to live a Healthy Lifestyle and make good choices about a balanced diet and exercise while making positive lifestyle decisions for their bodies. Last year alone, more than 80,000 hot meals and 40,000 healthy snacks were served at our Clubhouses.

Check out the inaugural pasta dinner here, where famed Chef Alfonso Sanna, the Executive Chef at Academia Barilla Restaurants, came to the Clubhouse to specially prepare the pasta feast for our members!

Madison Members are making moves toward a Great Future!

Fall at Madison is a fun and exciting time for all. Members are in full-swing back at school and in their Clubhouses, planning for their academic success, learning about making healthy choices, and organizing community service projects.

Did you know...

· On average, 959 youth took part in our programs across our four Clubhouses every day last year.

· 96% of our Project Graduate seniors graduated from high school and 94% that applied to college were accepted to attend.

· 87% of our members developed conflict resolution skills because of their Clubhouse programs and experience.

· 92% of our teens reported no involvement with the juvenile justice system last year.

· 93% of our members took part in regular, moderate-to-physical activity during their afternoons and weekends at the Clubs.

Go, Runners, Go!

In preparation for the TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 1st, members of our Thomas S. Murphy Clubhouse gave back to their community by cheering on the runners of the Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon in Brooklyn. Members made signs, celebrated the runners, and worked at the water stations along the course.

Our members will now be ready to cheer on our Miles for Madison team as they run the 26.2 miles through Manhattan’s five boroughs. Each team member has been training—and fundraising—for months now, and we are so proud of their extraordinary efforts. All the money raised through the Miles for Madison team will directly fund our award-winning youth development programs at our four Clubhouses throughout Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Are you going to be supporting the Marathon runners?! Be sure to use the hashtag #MilesforMadison and be on the lookout for our team! Find out more about the team—there’s still time to donate!
